The big race of the day is the Coral Eclipse Stakes at Sandown and this looks as if it will go to the Derby winner Sea The Stars. John Oxx pulled the horse out of the Irish Derby because of the ground and runs him here against the older horses instead and we can’t see him getting beat.
Aiden O’Brien opposes with Rip Van Winkle (and his two pacemakers) but we’d be surprised if he were able to mount a serious challenge to the favourite.
Sea The Stars is odds on at 4/6 (Coral) and we think a bit more value could like with the big outsider Jukebox Jury. He was second in the Racing Post Trophy and will need to step up on his previous runs if he is to feature, but we think this extra distance could suit –especially with pacemakers in the race- and although we don’t expect him to win he could make the frame at 66/1 (Ladbrokes) and is worth a small each/way bet.
