Champions League Tuesday

Arsenal should win in Holland against an Alkmaar team who are out of form and finding wins hard to come by. The Dutch Champions have only managed two wins in 8 matches and we can see Arsenal’s attack breaching their defence more than once tonight.

Over 2.5 goals at 8/11 (Stan James) plus the both teams to score bet at 4/5 (Ladbrokes) are both worth considering tonight. We’re tipping Arsenal to win 1/2 (Partybets) and we’re going to take a chance on a 3-1 scoreline 12/1 (888Sport). Robin Van Persie to get the first goal is 9/2 (Betfred) and should be backed.

Liverpool haven’t been at their best in recent matches and if that trend continues tonight, then they could be in trouble against Lyon. There’s been a lack of goals and goalscoring chances for the Reds in their  last three matches and with Fernando Torres going to miss the match tonight we’re worried they won’t be able to break down Lyon who haven’t conceded yet in their two games.

The French team are no easy touch and having won 10 of the last 15 away European ties they have played they look attractively priced at 4/1 (William Hill) to get a win. Liverpool do have a good home record in Europe, but the 18/25 (BetUK) about a home win looks very short considering their current form

We might be proved wrong, but the away win is where we think the money should be going and that’s our selection. The under 2.5 goals looks a pretty solid bet at 8/11 (Toresport) and should be supported. We’re predicting a 1-0 win for Lyon which looks a huge price at 29/2 (Betfair).

Scottish Champions Rangers and their opponents Unirea Urziceni are joint bottom of their group with one point. Rangers caved in badly in their last home game against Seville and were soundly beaten 4-1 while the Romanians were securing a 1-1 home draw against Stuttgart.

Little is known about the Romanians-apart from the fact they are managed by ex Chelsea player Dan Petrescu-but they showed decent spirit in coming back from a goal down against Stuttgart and were unlucky not to take all three points form the match.

This could be a close game and we wouldn’t be surprised to see the match end in a draw 5/2 (Paddypower). The two correct score bets that interest us are the 0-0 17/2 (Sportingbet) and the 1-1 6/1 (Coral) with the goalless draw just getting our vote.

Also from tonight’s ties a bet on Seville to win in Stuttgart at odds of 11/10 (Betfred) could bring a profit, while Barcelona 1/8 (Betfred) and Inter 2/5 (Ladbrokes) are both banker home wins.
